• Hemorrhagic fevers (HFs) encompass a constellation of findings caused by a number of distinct viruses.
  • Characterized by local hemorrhage, hypotension, and—in severe cases—shock due to vascular instability and decreased vascular integrity
• A number of viral HF syndromes exist, including:
  • Lassa fever
  • South American HF syndromes
    • Argentine
    • Bolivian
    • Venezuelan
    • Brazilian
  • Rift Valley fever
  • Crimean-Congo HF
  • Hantavirus HF with renal syndrome
  • Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome
  • Puumala HF with renal syndrome
  • Ebola and Marburg HF
  • Yellow fever
  • Dengue hemorrhagic fever/dengue shock syndrome (DHF/DSS)
  • Kyasanur Forest disease
  • Omsk HF
