- Inflammation of the vermiform appendix, a diverticular appendage of the cecum
- Classic presentation
- Abdominal pain
- Initially diffuse, epigastric or periumbilical, gradually localizing to the right lower quadrant
- Anorexia
- Nausea
- Fever
- May be complicated by:
- Perforation
- Periappendiceal abscess
