Definition
- Granulocytosis
- An excess of granulocytes in the peripheral blood
- Sign of many abnormal conditions, including cancer and infection
- May indicate a paraneoplastic hematologic syndrome with granulocyte count > 7700/μL (2 standard deviations above the population mean)
- Neutrophilia
- An excess of neutrophils (a subset of granulocytes) in peripheral blood
- Leukemoid reaction
- Persistent neutrophilia with cell counts of > 25,000 to 50,000/μL
