Definition
- A chronic systemic mycosis
- Endemic to Central and South America and to Mexico
- Caused by the dimorphic fungus Paracoccidioides brasiliensis
- Characterized by oropharyngeal ulcers, draining enlarged lymph nodes, skin lesions, weight loss, and patchy infiltrates on chest radiography
- Formerly called South American blastomycosis
